Lisa White | United Services in Dayville

Lisa White - Serve Here CT Fellow - United Services in DayvilleLisa White has seen first hand the impact of mental illness and addiction on individuals and families. White grew up watching a close family member battle mental illness. In the midst of this battle, she saw great pain but also victory through proper treatment and care.

Today, as a Serve Here CT fellow, White serves individuals who struggle with mental illness. White works in an outpatient facility in Dayville with United Services and works with adolescent and adult patients, both diagnosing and treating mental illness and addiction.

Serving in that capacity can be immensely challenging. However, White says that Serve here CT has equipped her with resources has given her further insight into the community she works with and the hardships that they face.

White is a Board Certificated Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP-BC) and is certificated to work with patients across the lifespan (child to elder). Originally from Cape Cod, she attended Simmons College in Boston and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing in 2011. She then went on to receive her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from Boston College, specializing in Psychiatry, in 2015.

“I am very passionate about my work and so incredibly grateful to do what I do each day,” says White.  “When you get to watch your patients get better, go back to school or work, start families, maybe laugh or smile for the first time in a long time, there is no greater feeling than that. You can’t help but feel like you gave someone a second chance at life. How could I not be passionate about that?”
